Letter R — Rabbit.

An orange rabbit hops in for the letter R. R growls like a friendly tiger — rrr — and the rabbit gives the growl two long ears to listen with.

THE CARD — DRAW RIGHT ON IT

Trace R r, circle the rabbit.

This is R’s own card from the class. Pick a crayon, then trace the big letter and the little letter right on the card with your finger, a stylus or the mouse — and circle rabbit. Press Save my work when you are proud: your drawing stays here for next time.

THE LETTER SOUND

What does R say?

Letter and picture association card: R r with an orange outline of a rabbit sitting
ASSOCIATION CARDR r — Rabbit

“r — rrr, a growling sound”

R says rrr — a growly sound made with a bouncy tongue. Pretend to be a tiger, then shrink it down: rrrabbit. The growl is the game.

TAKE IT OFF SCREEN

Rabbit hop.

Two minutes is plenty. Follow your child’s lead and stop while it is still fun — that is the whole method.

  1. 01

Hop three times across the room, growling softly: rrr, rrr, rabbit!

  2. 02

Nibble an imaginary carrot with fast little bites.

  3. 03

Freeze like a still rabbit when you hear rrr — then hop to the sofa.
