ALPHABET ACTIVITY · CLASS 15 · AGE 3

Letter V — Violin.

A purple violin sings in for the letter V. V vibrates like a tiny motor — vvv — and the violin is the best motor in the orchestra.

THE CARD — DRAW RIGHT ON IT

Trace V v, circle the violin.

This is V’s own card from the class. Pick a crayon, then trace the big letter and the little letter right on the card with your finger, a stylus or the mouse — and circle violin. Press Save my work when you are proud: your drawing stays here for next time.

THE LETTER SOUND

What does V say?

Letter and picture association card: V v with a purple violin with its bow
ASSOCIATION CARDV v — Violin

“v — vvv, a motor sound”

V says vvv — like a little motor: top teeth on the bottom lip, voice switched on. Hold it out: vvvv. Compare with f, which is the same shape but only air.

TAKE IT OFF SCREEN

Violin concert.

Two minutes is plenty. Follow your child’s lead and stop while it is still fun — that is the whole method.

  1. 01

Hold a ruler or paper tube as a violin and bow with your other arm while singing vvvv.

  2. 02

March once around the room playing for an audience of stuffed animals.

  3. 03

Finish with a deep bow — v is for very well done.
