Chef Worksheet for Ages 4–5
A community-helpers worksheet for ages 4–5: trace the word CHEF, match the chef to the spoon, mixing bowl and chef hat, circle the healthy foods, count the plates and draw a meal you would like to make — on screen or on paper.
The full sheet, exactly as the artist drew it.
See the whole sheet, download the original file or print it from your browser. Want your child to solve it on screen first? The interactive version lives at preschool/4-years/community-helpers-and-our-neighborhood/worksheets/chef/ / — same sheet, drawing layer included.

The five steps on the sheet.
- 1
Trace
Trace the dotted word CHEF — only four letters, but say each one loud and proud.
- 2
Match
Draw a line from the chef to the spoon, the mixing bowl and the chef hat.
- 3
Circle
Six foods sit in the grid — circle every one that helps your body grow strong. Two of them are sometimes-treats!
- 4
Count
Count the plates, then write the number in the box.
- 5
Draw
Draw a meal you would like to make in the big box — breakfast, lunch, dinner or a silly sandwich.
Before you start, have the words ready: A chef cooks for other people: the spoon stirs, the mixing bowl holds everything together, and the tall hat is called a toque — real chefs really wear it! Kitchens are busy places where good food and clean hands matter most.
What this worksheet teaches.
What a chef does in a kitchen, which tools cook a meal, and which foods help bodies grow — plus how to write the short but mighty word CHEF.
Chefs make healthy food look exciting, and this sheet borrows that magic. The healthy-food grid turns into a plate conversation at exactly the age when food habits form, and the meal-drawing box lets your child design a menu of their own.

Tips, questions and practice.
Say before you start: "This is a chef — he cooks wonderful food for people. Trace his name, then connect the spoon, the mixing bowl and the hat. Now look at the six foods: which ones are healthy helpers for your body? Count the plates carefully, and then draw the meal YOU would love to make."
Questions to ask: "What does the chef stir in the big bowl?" "Which foods did you circle, and why?" "What is a sometimes food in our family?" "What would your restaurant serve first?"
Parent tips: Let tonight’s dinner be the drawn meal for real if you can — even one food from your child’s menu on the plate makes the worksheet delicious. Chefs wash hands first: borrow that rule too.
Home practice: Cook one simple thing together this week — stirring the pancake batter counts. The spoon, the bowl, the tasting: the whole worksheet, warm and edible.
