Park Ranger Worksheet for Ages 4–5
A community-helpers worksheet for ages 4–5: trace the words PARK RANGER, match the ranger to the backpack, map and trail sign, circle the caring ways, count the trees and draw a safe nature trail — on screen or on paper.
The full sheet, exactly as the artist drew it.

The five steps on the sheet.
- 1
Trace
Trace the dotted words PARK RANGER — two words, one for every boot on the trail.
- 2
Match
Draw a line from the ranger to the backpack, the map and the trail sign.
- 3
Circle
Four labeled ways to care for nature sit in the grid — circle every single one, because all four are exactly right!
- 4
Count
Count the trees, then write the number in the box.
- 5
Draw
Draw a safe nature trail in the big box — the path, the trees beside it, and you walking right down the middle.
Before you start, have the words ready: A park ranger takes care of the park and everyone in it: the backpack holds the ranger’s tools, the map shows every trail, and the trail sign tells walkers where to go. The caring ways on the sheet — litter up, water saved, plants left growing, feet on the trail — are ALL right, and every one is a job your child can do.
What this worksheet teaches.
What a park ranger does in the park, four real ways to care for nature, and why trails, water and wild plants deserve gentle hands — plus how to write the words PARK RANGER.
Nature care is citizenship in small shoes: every rule on this grid is one a four-year-old can actually keep. The all-correct grid builds pride instead of worry — your child is the helper nature has been waiting for.

Tips, questions and practice.
Say before you start: "This is a park ranger — the helper who takes care of the whole park. Trace the two words, then connect the backpack, the map and the trail sign. Now the four pictures: every single one is a way to care for nature! Circle them all. Count the trees, and then draw YOUR trail — where does it lead?"
Questions to ask: "What does the park ranger protect?" "Which caring ways will YOU do on our next walk?" "Why do we stay on the trail?" "What does the map help the ranger find?"
Parent tips: Adopt one ranger rule per walk this month: trash out, feet on the trail, plants left for the bees. A small backpack your child carries — with a pocket for collecting litter — turns the whole sheet into a uniform.
Home practice: Walk a real trail this week as junior rangers: pack the backpack, read the trail sign, stay on the path and carry out one piece of litter each. The park gets cleaner; the habit gets permanent.
