Barber Worksheet for Ages 4–5
A community-helpers worksheet for ages 4–5: trace the word BARBER, match the barber to the scissors, comb and salon chair, circle the hair-care tools, count the combs and draw a hairstyle you like — on screen or on paper.
The full sheet, exactly as the artist drew it.
See the whole sheet, download the original file or print it from your browser. Want your child to solve it on screen first? The interactive version lives at preschool/4-years/community-helpers-and-our-neighborhood/worksheets/barber/ / — same sheet, drawing layer included.

The five steps on the sheet.
- 1
Trace
Trace the dotted word BARBER across the row — six letters, one for every snip.
- 2
Match
Draw a line from the barber to the scissors, the comb and the salon chair.
- 3
Circle
Six pictures sit in the grid — circle every tool that cares for hair. Two of them care for teeth and paintings instead!
- 4
Count
Count the combs, then write the number in the box.
- 5
Draw
Draw a hairstyle you like in the big box — long, short, curly, braided, or a brand-new invention.
Before you start, have the words ready: A barber cuts and shapes hair: the scissors snip, the comb straightens, the hairdryer blows warm air, and the shampoo bottle washes it all first. Hair keeps growing and growing, so the barber’s chair is a friend we visit again and again.
What this worksheet teaches.
What a barber does in the salon, which tools cut, dry and wash hair, and which tools belong to bathrooms and art boxes instead — plus how to write the word BARBER.
Haircut days go better when the tools are old friends on paper first. The tool grid sharpens bathroom-versus-salon-versus-art-box sorting, and the hairstyle draw box gives your child a say in their own look — small ownership, big cooperation.

Tips, questions and practice.
Say before you start: "This is a barber — the helper who keeps hair neat and tidy. Trace the name, then connect the scissors, the comb and the salon chair. Now the six pictures: which tools are for hair? Count the combs carefully, and then draw a hairstyle YOU think looks wonderful."
Questions to ask: "What do the scissors do in the salon?" "Which two grid tools are NOT for hair?" "What happens to hair when it grows?" "How do YOU like your hair — and who cuts it?"
Parent tips: If haircuts bring wiggles, this sheet is the warm-up: name the tools, let your child hold a comb during the real cut, and ask the barber to explain each step. Familiar tools make steady heads.
Home practice: Play salon tonight: a doll, a soft brush, a gentle mist of water, and your child as the barber explaining every step — snip, comb, dry. At the next real haircut, ask them to name the tools as they appear.
